Stuff: The M3 to make us forget about the X6M
We've been bleating as nauseum about BMW losing its mojo with products like the The Most Irrelevant New Vehicle of the Year. But all may be forgiven if BMW Canada can see to import what they are calling the "most hardcore roadgoing M3 to date:" the new M3 GTS. Here's what BMW's M Division is divulging so far: German deliveries start next May, stickering at 115,000 euros (about $180k Cdn.) before taxes. Here's the speculated specs: 1,490 kg curb weight , about 190 kg less less than a stock M3 coupe; 450 horsepower from an enlarged 4.4-litre V8 via BMW's seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox. Here's the eye-candy: exclusive 19-inch competition alloys with 225/35 rubber up front and 285/30 in the rear; wider bodywork including a massive front splitter and rear wing. Here's the hardware: six-piston calipers up front and four in the rear; adjustable suspension. Here's the inside: stripped-out cockpit; racing buckets; emergency cut-off switch and a fire extinguisher taking the place of the air-con, nav and radio, along with mounting points for a roll cage and six-point harnesses and a Macrolon rear windscreen to replace the stock glass.
