The long gestation period for Acura’s replacement for both its TSX and TL sports sedans is finally over. After unveiling a thinly-disguised pre-production version at this January’s Detroit auto show, Honda’s premium brand finally rolled out its ready-to-go-on-sale 2015 TLX, all set to take on the likes of the BMW 3 Series and other entry-level sports-luxury sedans.
The five-passenger, four-door 2015 Acura TLX will offer a pair of existing Honda gas engines. The base mill is a 2.4-litre four-cylinder gas engine with 204 horsepower. It’s mated to an all-new, eight-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. The optional 3.5 L gas-six — with 290 hp — uses an equally-new, nine-speed autobox. No manual gearbox will be offered. Acura's Precision All-Wheel Steer will be standard on the front-drive variants with both engines, while the brand's Super Handling All-Wheel Drive will only be available on the TLX V6.
