2014 Geneva Motor Show: Mini Clubman Concept

DSC00953 Story and photos by John LeBlanc GENEVA - As BMW’s Mini brand rolls out a new generation of small cars (the first being the Mini hardtop that’s going on-sale in Canada this year), the Mini Clubman Concept is a preview to an expected production model. Now with six doors (four at the side and a pair of vertical rear doors) and longer and wider than the current compact Mini Countryman, the production Clubman will arguably be the most practical Mini ever.DSC00949 The Mini Clubman Concept’s interior also gives us a hint that the brand aims to offer more upscale interiors. The new dash layout is much cleaner looking than Minis from the past, and the use of leather, wood and chrome gives the small car a big car feel. The production Mini Clubman (which also predicts a slightly shorter future Mini four-door hardtop) will likely use the same three- and four-cylinder gas engines found in the new Mini hardtop, with ether six-speed manual or automatic transmissions.
