GENEVA – After the unveiling last year of both the new, Mercedes-Benz S-Class full-size sedan and the almost-production ready S-Class Coupe Concept at last fall’s Frankfurt auto show, the debut of the production version of the replacement for the outgoing CL-Class full-size coupe still held a few surprises.
For example, when the 2015 Mercedes-Benz S-Class Coupe goes on sale later this year, it will become the world’s first production car with that will be able to “lean” into corners. Integrated into the S Class Coupe’s Magic Body Control (a system first seen on the new S-Class sedan), the big two-door can “see” oncoming turns via a stereo camera mounted in the windshield and something Mercedes calls a “transverse acceleration sensor.” The car’s air suspension then inclines the S-Class Coupe’s body by as much as to reduce the amount of body lean affecting passengers while cornering.
