2014 Geneva Motor Show: 2015 Land Rover Range Rover Evoque Autobiography Dynamic

DSC00815 Story and photos by John LeBlanc GENEVA – While sister brand Jaguar’s XFR-S Sportbrake super wagon won’t be coming to Canada any time soon, Land Rover’s Geneva debut most definitely will. Consider the new 2015 Range Rover Evoque Autobiography Dynamic the “hot hatch” member in the compact crossover lineup. In Europe, the Evoque Autobiography Dynamic’s turbocharged, 2.0-litre four-cylinder nine is rated at 281 horsepower and 294 pound-feet of torque — increases of 41 and 54, respectively, over the cooking Evoque. DSC00812 The small crossover’s nine-speed automatic transmission has also been tweaked with a software update that allegedly sharpens gear shift times.  Although Land Rover didn’t release any figures, the Evoque’s current 7.6 seconds 0 to 100 kilometres per hour time should be reduced in the Autobiography Dynamic edition. More than just a hopped-up engine bay, the all-wheel-drive Evoque Autobiography Dynamic also receives a new suspension with firmer springs, updated adaptive shocks, bigger brakes and tweaked suspension geometry. The sportiest Evoque also gets “Torque Vector by braking” hardware (it employs brake pressure to stabilise the car in turns) from the Jaguar F-Type R Coupe. No word on pricing yet. But expect the new 2015 Range Rover Evoque Autobiography Dynamic to take a bigger bite out of your wallet than the current topline, $63,000-plus Evoque Dynamic model.
