2014 Geneva Motor Show: 2015 Ford Focus
Story and photos by John LeBlanc GENEVA – Just in time to battle with a new generation of Volkswagen’s compact Golf, Ford unveiled a refreshed version of its compact bestseller: the Focus. Like last year’s subcompact Fiesta update, the new 2015 Focus four-door hatch and European-market only four-door wagon get refreshed front end styling with yet another take on the Aston Martin theme. Inside, a redesigned centre dash with less buttons promises an easier-to-use experience. At least for the Euro models, Ford is saying the 2015 Focus get a stiffer front end chassis with new suspension geometry and shocks, a retuned electronic stability control system and the electric power steering has also been updated for more feel and precision. One update the North American 2015 Focus will get is the availability of the Fiesta’s 1.0-litre turbocharged three-cylinder gas engine. In Europe, the three-banger made up 32% of sales of the current Focus and 26% of Fiesta sales this year. No word on what the 1.0’s ratings will be in the 2015 Focus, but the three-pot makes 123 horsepower and 148 pound-feet of torque in the Fiesta.
