2014 Geneva Motor Show: 2014 McLaren 650S

Story and photos by John LeBlanc Right beside Lamborghini’s Geneva Motor Show booth resided the upstart rivals from Britain’s McLaren, which in a just a few short years has become a serious player for super car buyer wallets. And to further threaten the likes of the Lamborghinis and Ferraris of the segment, McLaren debuted its third model: the 650S.If the 950 horsepower McLaren P1 is just too much super car for you to handle, and the 616 hp McLaren MP4-12C is not enough, the 650S (as in 641 hp) may just be right. Available in hardtop and Spider convertible forms, the mama bear of the McLaren lineup employs the firm’s ubiquitous, twin turbocharged 3.8-litre eight-cylinder gas engine, which allows for a claimed 0 to 96 kilometres time of only 3.0 seconds.
